Samsung has officially begun rolling out the stable One UI 8 update based on Android 16 to the Galaxy S25 lineup, marking the phones’ first major OS upgrade since launch earlier this year. After a couple of months of beta testing, Galaxy S25 users in South Korea are the first to get the update today.
Galaxy S25 gets stable One UI 8 update
The latest update has the firmware version BYI3, and for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the update comes in at 555MB. That’s because most of the features were already included in the beta builds. If you’ve been testing One UI 8 through Samsung’s beta program, this update won’t feel too bulky. However, for those still on One UI 7, expect a much larger download—likely a few gigabytes—since it will include all the new features and changes in one go.

At the moment, it’s not entirely clear whether the update is reaching the Galaxy S25 Edge alongside the standard Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. If not, it shouldn’t take long—Samsung usually closes these gaps within days.
One UI 8 expansion shouldn’t take long
Samsung hasn’t published a detailed regional schedule, but the stable One UI 8 update should start expanding beyond South Korea anytime soon. It’s expected that more flagship devices—including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6—will also begin receiving the update before the end of this month.
Once the rollout reaches your region, you’ll be notified automatically. You can check it manually by heading over to Settings > Software update > Download and install. After downloading, simply tap Install now to upgrade to One UI 8.
