One UI 8 update now rolling out to Galaxy S22 series

After pushing the latest Android 16–based One UI 8 update to its newer flagships, the company is now showing some love to the Galaxy S22 lineup, which includes the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The update has gone live in Europe and comes in at a hefty download size of about 3.2GB, carrying the firmware version S90xBXXUIGYI7. It’s rolling out in stages, so if you don’t see it yet, don’t panic — it should reach more regions in the next few days. You can check for it manually by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

This is a particularly important update for S22 owners because it marks the fourth and final major OS upgrade for the series. Samsung launched these phones with Android 12 (One UI 4) back in early 2022, and promised four major OS updates — a promise it has now fully delivered on. That said, the lineup will still get One UI 8.5 next year as a smaller follow-up release, so support isn’t ending just yet.

Once installed, the update breathes new life into the S22 series with Android 16 and One UI 8. Samsung’s latest software brings subtle UI refinements for a cleaner and more modern look, alongside several feature upgrades. There’s display rotation and new options in DeX, extra security for Secure Folder, and a refreshed Quick Share experience. Core apps like Alarm, Calendar, My Files, Reminder, and Samsung Internet have also been revamped, while Modes and Routines now include new actions and conditions for more customization.
