Samsung didn’t take long to fix whatever held back the One UI 8 (Android 16) update for the Galaxy S22 lineup. Just a day after pausing the rollout in India and Europe, the company has now resumed the release in both regions.
Galaxy S22 starts getting One UI 8 (again) in India and Europe
The resumed update carries the same firmware versions as before, confirming that the previously paused build didn’t contain any major issues. In India, the update for the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra is rolling out with the firmware version GYIF, while in Europe, it bears the version GYI7.

The rollout was temporarily halted yesterday when Samsung pulled the update from its servers, sparking speculation that there might be bugs or performance issues. However, with the same build now reappearing, it’s clear that the pause was likely due to a routine internal check or server-side adjustment, rather than a critical flaw in the software itself.
If you’re in India or Europe and haven’t updated yet, you can now safely proceed with the installation. Simply navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install to check if the update is available for your device.
One UI 8 rollout continues at full speed
Samsung’s quick turnaround reinforces just how efficient its One UI 8 rollout has been this year. Despite a brief hiccup, the Galaxy S22 series is once again receiving Android 16 without delay, joining the long list of devices that have already made the jump in record time.
With this, the company looks well on track to complete the One UI 8 rollout for most eligible devices before the end of October — making it one of Samsung’s fastest and most stable update cycles yet.
