The list of Galaxy devices running One UI 8 keeps growing as two more rugged tablets have joined the party — the Galaxy Tab Active 5 and the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro. Both tablets are now receiving Samsung’s Android 16-based update, expanding the company’s latest software rollout to its durable, enterprise-focused lineup.
One UI 8 update arrives for Galaxy Tab Active 5 and Active 5 Pro
Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 8 update for the Galaxy Tab Active 5 and Tab Active 5 Pro in European markets. The update for the Tab Active 5 comes with the firmware version CYJ3, while the Tab Active 5 Pro is getting the firmware version BYJ4. Both updates weigh in at over 2GB, so it’s best to download them over Wi-Fi.
Users can check for the update by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If it’s not yet available for your device, expect it to appear in the next few days as the rollout expands across more countries.

Four generations of Android updates guaranteed
Samsung’s rugged tablets come with a strong update commitment. The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, launched earlier this year with Android 15-based One UI 7.0, will receive updates all the way up to Android 18. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab Active 5, which debuted in 2024 with Android 14-based One UI 6.0, will be updated through Android 17.
Both devices will also benefit from Samsung’s extended security patch support and the productivity and UI improvements introduced with One UI 8 — including refinements to multitasking, app design, and security. With this rollout, Samsung continues to show that even its rugged, enterprise-tier devices aren’t left behind in the software update race.
