Samsung’s rollout of the December 2025 security patch is accelerating, now reaching a wider range of Galaxy smartphones and tablets. After its initial rollout last week to flagships like the Galaxy S25 and S24 series, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, the update is now available for several mid-range, budget, and older models.
The update has started rolling out in select regions for the following devices, identified by their firmware versions:
- Galaxy A15: CYL1
- Galaxy A05: DYL2
- Galaxy A24: EYL2
- Galaxy M44: EYL1
- Galaxy S21 FE (Exynos): HYK5
- Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4: IYL1
- Galaxy Tab S8, S8+, S8 Ultra: EYK1
- Galaxy Tab S10 FE, S10 FE+: BYL2
The rollout is expected to gradually expand to all regions over the coming days and weeks. To manually check for an available update, navigate to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
The December 2025 security patch addresses a total of 68 vulnerabilities. It includes Google’s fixes for 57 issues within the core Android OS, six of which are rated as critical. Additionally, Samsung has patched 11 security flaws only affecting Galaxy phones and tablets.
Key fixes in the latest security patch address serious vulnerabilities, including out-of-bounds read and write errors in critical components like the fingerprint system, bootloader, and image codec libraries. These flaws could have potentially allowed attackers to access or overwrite sensitive data. The update also resolves a vulnerability in the Dynamic Lockscreen that could have permitted other applications to access its files and a validation bug in Samsung’s radio interface layer.
Samsung is also working on One UI 8.5, which recently debuted on Galaxy S25 series via the beta program, and is gearing up for the release early next year alongside the Galaxy S26 series. You can review the list of eligible devices here.
