Samsung has resumed rolling out Google Play system updates after a few months of pause, and it’s the classic Galaxy S10, S20, and S21 series that are among the first to receive them. Many Galaxy users had been stuck on outdated Play system versions during this pause.
Samsung had previously explained the delay, stating it temporarily halts the latest Play system distributions when introducing new devices or major One UI updates to prevent potential software conflicts. The company had promised a resumption this month, and it has now started delivering the November Google Play system update to these older flagships.

While November’s update isn’t the very latest, it is a much needed step up for devices that have been waiting. It includes a range of important security patches and improvements to core Android components, bolstering the overall security and stability of these phones.
Interestingly, this first wave has prioritized older models. Samsung’s newest flagships, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy S25 series, have not yet received this update, making the rollout to the S10, S20, and S21 a welcome surprise.
To check if your eligible device has received the update, navigate to Settings > Security and Privacy > Updates > Google Play System Update.
This initial rollout suggests Samsung is methodically testing and approving the update for its vast portfolio. With the process now restarted, users of other Galaxy models can likely expect the update to reach their devices in the coming weeks as Samsung expands the rollout. You can visit the Samsung section regularly for the latest updates.
