Galaxy S25 series receives first software update of 2026

Samsung has started rolling out the January 2026 security update to the Galaxy S25 lineup in South Korea. Except the Galaxy S25 Edge, all other S25 models — the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra — are receiving the new software, which includes the latest security patches and stability improvements.

The update is based on One UI 8, built on Android 16. Users can identify the latest firmware by the PDA build version ending with BYLR for the standard S25 series and AYL3 for the S25 FE. Samsung’s January patch brings fixes for 55 CVE and SVE items across both the Android OS and One UI systems.

Samsung already delivered the January patch to One UI 8.5 beta participants, so users who haven’t joined the beta or aren’t eligible will now sequentially receive the OTA update. If you haven’t yet received the update, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

This is the first software update for the Galaxy S25 series in 2026. Samsung has already pushed the January patch to the Galaxy A34, A55, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7, and the list will only keep getting longer as more devices get the update in the coming days.
