Galaxy S23 and S22 series join January 2026 security update rollout

Samsung continues to widen the reach of its first security patch of the year, with the update now arriving for previous flagship generations. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S22 series have started receiving the January 2026 security update.

The rollout for the Galaxy S23 series, including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, is identified by firmware version ending in EZA1. The Galaxy S23 FE is receiving the same security maintenance on a slightly different build, version DZA3. Similarly, the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra are being updated in Korea with firmware version GZA1.

As is standard for Samsung’s phased rollout strategy, this initial release is limited to South Korea, but users in other major regions like India, the United States, and elsewhere can expect the update to arrive on their devices over the coming days. The update can be checked for manually by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

This update focuses solely on security, incorporating the January 2026 patch that addresses 55 vulnerabilities across the Android OS and Samsung’s One UI software. It brings no new features or performance tweaks.

While this is a routine update, both the Galaxy S23 and S22 series have a more significant upgrade on the horizon: One UI 8.5. It’s important to note that the ongoing One UI 8.5 beta program is currently limited to the Galaxy S25 series. However, all Galaxy S23 and S22 models are eligible for this major upgrade.

The stable release is expected to begin after the software debuts on the Galaxy S26 series, with a wider rollout to older flagships like the S23 and S22 likely in the subsequent months.
