After a weeks-long delay, Samsung has officially released the fourth beta of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 series. The Beta 4 update, identified by firmware version ZZAL, shifts focus from new features to refinement, squashing several persistent bugs and integrating the latest security patches ahead of the stable release.
The update is a substantial download, weighing in at around 1.5GB. Most notably, it brings the security patch level up to February 2026, ensuring the software is current on protections.
According to the official changelog, Beta 4 tackles a series of specific user-reported issues. Fixes include resolving crashes when tapping search history in the Phone app, eliminating problems where calls would unexpectedly switch from a connected Bluetooth headset to the phone’s speaker, and ensuring phone numbers paste correctly into the keypad after clicking a call link.

The update also addresses a quirky lock screen bug that caused the clock widget to shift position spontaneously. Furthermore, the AI Select feature now closes automatically after content is copied, creating a smoother editing workflow.
Alongside these specific fixes, users can expect general stability improvements and rumors point to smoother animations and enhanced system fluidity. While not explicitly listed, backend updates to Bixby are also likely included as Samsung continues to refine the assistant.
It’s important to note that the One UI 8.5 beta program remains exclusive to the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in a limited set of countries, including the US, UK, India, Germany, Poland, and South Korea. There is no indication the beta will expand to older devices.
With Beta 4 now live, Samsung’s focus is clearly on polishing the software for its imminent stable debut. The final version of One UI 8.5 is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 series later this month, with a broader rollout to other eligible Galaxy devices beginning shortly after the new flagships go on sale in March.
