Samsung has begun testing One UI 9 for its upcoming foldable phones, and the development pace is accelerating as another device has unexpectedly joined the internal testing phase. While the company prepares to launch One UI 8.5 with the Galaxy S26 series, it’s already laying the groundwork for its next major software update.
Earlier today, we reported that Samsung started internal One UI 9 testing for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and the rumored Galaxy Wide Fold. Now, in a surprising development, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has also appeared on Samsung’s test servers running One UI 9. This move is particularly notable since the stable version of One UI 8.5 hasn’t even been released yet.
According to details shared by tipster Alfatürk, the internal test build for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 carries the version number F966USQU8CZB3. This early firmware development confirms that Samsung is proactively working on One UI 9 for existing devices alongside its upcoming foldables.
It’s important to clarify that this testing is entirely internal and not accessible to the public. The presence of these test builds simply indicates that Samsung’s software team is advancing its roadmap for 2026, but it doesn’t mean users will get early access or that the update will arrive ahead of schedule. This internal testing phase typically focuses on stability and basic functionality before any beta program begins.
The inclusion of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in One UI 9 testing so early suggests Samsung is committed to providing timely updates for its current flagship foldables. However, users should note that the stable rollout of One UI 9 is still months away, likely debuting with the next-generation foldables expected around July or August.
For now, Samsung’s immediate focus remains on the Galaxy S26 series launch on February 25, which will introduce One UI 8.5 to the world. We’ll continue monitoring the development of One UI 9 and share more details as they emerge.
