The ministry said that we have received many complaints from various sources about the misuse of mobile apps on both Android and iOS platform. The apps were stealing users data and sending data servers outside India. This creates a risk about the security and privacy of users thus the govt has taken this step to prevent these kinds of actions.
An official notice says that the apps have been banned under the section of 69A of the Information Techology Act. According to the Act, these apps are “Prejudicial to the sovereignty and Integrity of India, defense of India, security of the state, and public order. WeChat is included in the list which is developed by Tencent but surprisingly PUBG is not in the list which is also developed by the Tencent.
