According to a report from 9to5Google, Google has removed over 8 million negative reviews for TikTok applications. The reason for this action has not stated by Google. The removal of negative reviews helped the TikTok application to achieve 4.4 rating on the Google Play Store.
In the last 2-3 week, Chinese-based short video platform TikTok has faced huge criticism by India users. Users tells that the video-sharing app shows objectionable content that includes attacks, rape, domestic violence, child abuse etc. As a result millions of peoples started tweeting with the hashtags like #TikTokBan #DeleteTikTok, #BanTikTok on twitter and leaving 1-star review on Play Store. That lead to fall the rating of the application from 4.5 to 1.2 stars.
In a statement to TechCrunch, A TikTok SpokesPerson said:
Keeping people on TikTok safe is a top priority and we make it clear in our Term of Service and Community Guidelines that clearly outlines what is not acceptable on our platform. As per the policy, we do not allow content that risks the safety of others, promotes physical harm, or glorifies violence against women. The behavior in question violates our guidelines and we have taken down content, suspended the account, and are working with law enforcement agencies as appropriate.
