Samsung has started rolling out the March 2026 security patch to the Galaxy S24 series, and now it looks like a One UI 8.5 public beta for these devices isn’t far behind.
The update, carrying firmware version CZC1, is currently going out in South Korea first. The US and other regions should follow in the coming days, as is typically the case with Samsung’s phased rollouts. There are no new features here, just security fixes. A total of 67 vulnerabilities have been addressed across One UI and Android components. If you want to grab it early, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

What makes this update more interesting than a routine patch is what’s apparently coming next. A One UI 8.5 beta build based on Android 16 QPR2 has already shown up on Samsung’s internal test servers for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. That’s a pretty clear sign that a public beta for the S24 series is right around the corner. When it does arrive, it’ll be accessible through the Samsung Members app, likely starting in South Korea and the US.
Perhaps the most intriguing detail here is Samsung potentially opening up the beta to Fan Edition devices for the first time. The Galaxy S24 FE and S25 FE could reportedly join the program, which would be a new move for the company. Samsung has kept One UI 8.5 beta testing limited to the S25 series so far, so expanding it to both older flagships and Fan Edition models in one go would be a notable change in approach.
One UI 8.5 made its debut on the Galaxy S26 series and brings a handful of UI tweaks and new features to the Galaxy experience. The stable rollout for the S25 series has been the focus so far, but it seems Samsung is now gearing up to push the update to older devices as well. We’ll keep you updated when the beta goes live for the S24 lineup.
