After upgrading to One UI 8 (Android 16) last month, Samsung’s latest and recent foldables are now getting their first post-update software release in the United States. The rollout, which began in South Korea, is now reaching users of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, Fold 5, and Flip 5 in the US.
October 2025 security patch now rolling out to Galaxy foldables in the US
The latest update primarily delivers the October 2025 security patch, which addresses 14 high-severity vulnerabilities found in the Android operating system. In addition, Google has included six more fixes that don’t apply to Samsung devices, while Samsung itself has patched 12 vulnerabilities specific to its Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
The update is currently rolling out to Verizon-locked models, but other carrier variants and unlocked units should follow soon.
Here are the firmware versions for each model included in this rollout:
- Galaxy Z Fold 6: F956USQS2CYJ1
- Galaxy Z Flip 6: F741USQS2CYJ1
- Galaxy Z Fold 5: F946USQS6FYJ3
- Galaxy Z Flip 5: F731USQS6FYJ3
To check for the update manually, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If it’s not yet available for your device, you can expect it to appear within the next few days as Samsung completes the staggered rollout.
While the latest update only focuses on security enhancements, Samsung’s foldable lineup has plenty more to look forward to. All four Galaxy foldables are eligible for the upcoming One UI 8.5 update, which will be based on a newer Android 16 build (QPR2).
Samsung will debut One UI 8.5 alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year, and will later bring it to older devices. Past leaks have already revealed how the One UI 8.5 looks like. You can read more about it here.
