Samsung’s One UI 8 rollout is moving at lightning speed. After updating the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 earlier today, the company is now extending the stable One UI 8.0 update based on Android 16 to the Galaxy Z Fold SE (Special Edition). This marks yet another major device joining the Android 16 club well ahead of Samsung’s original schedule.
Galaxy Z Fold SE joins the One UI 8 wave
The new update (spotted by Sammobile) is currently available in South Korea with firmware version F958NKSU2CYI7. While the update includes the usual One UI 8 improvements — refreshed app designs, better system performance, and expanded Galaxy AI features — there’s one addition that stands out for the Fold SE.
Samsung has brought the Now Brief feature, which first debuted with the Galaxy S25 series, to the foldable. It has also just landed on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, making the Fold SE the latest to benefit from this smart new capability.
What is Now Brief?
Now Brief is Samsung’s new AI-powered feed that surfaces personalized, time-sensitive information throughout the day. For instance, in the morning it can show you the day’s weather forecast, upcoming calendar events, and reminders. Later in the day, it may highlight news articles from Samsung News based on your interests, suggest music or video playlists, or display your Energy Score. By evening, it can even resurface photos and videos you captured earlier in the day, creating a more personal and context-aware experience.
If you own a Galaxy Z Fold SE in South Korea, you can grab the new update right away. Just head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once the package is downloaded, hit Install now and your phone will reboot into the fresh, stable version of One UI 8.
With the Galaxy Z Fold SE now joining the Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Galaxy S24 lineup, and even the S24 FE, Samsung has shown remarkable speed in pushing out Android 16. At this rate, we can expect more Galaxy devices to receive the update much earlier than anticipated.
