2. Check the Xbox Status

You should check if there are any problems with Xbox. Go to the Xbox status page and see the current status. If the status shows “Limited” or “Major outage”, it means there’s something wrong with Xbox. In such a case, you should try launching the game after a few hours.

If the Xbox status is “All services up and running”, try the other solutions below to fix the launching issue with Atomic Heart on Xbox Game Pass.

3. Restart Your Device

Often the game is stuck on the loading screen or won’t launch if the device is running into system issues. When you restart the device, it cleans up temporary memory and removes all background processes, which could free up more storage.

To restart your PC, click on the Windows icon at the bottom, click the power icon, and select Restart.

4. Verify and Repair the Game

If Atomic Heart is not launching on your device, the problem could be corrupted or missing game files. Thankfully, Xbox has the option to verify and repair the game files.

Here are the required steps:

  1. Launch the Xbox app on your PC.
  2. Go to My Library and select Atomic Heart.
  3. Tap on the More options (…) button and select Manage.
  4. Select Files and tap on Verify and repair.

As soon as you click the Verify and Repair option, Xbox will start scanning the game files for any issues. If found, it will automatically do the repair job.

Once the process is completed, launch the game and check if the problem is fixed.

5. Make Sure You’re Using the Same Account on Xbox App and Store

Microsoft recommends signing with the same account on the Xbox app and Microsoft store for better sync. Just open the Microsoft Store, tap on your profile icon in the upper-right side, and take note of the email address.

Now, open the Xbox app and check your account. If you have different accounts on the Xbox app and Store, log in to Microsoft Store with the same account you’re using on the Xbox app.

6. Update Xbox and Game Services

Make sure the Xbox app and Game Services on your device are running on their latest version.

  1. Open the Microsoft Store.
  2. Go to Library.
  3. Tap on Get updates. The device will now start looking for updates.
  4. If an update is available for Xbox and Game Services, install them.

7. Run the Game With Admin Rights

The game may not be launching on your device because of limited permissions. When you run the game as an administrator, it has more access to system resources and permissions.

Here’s how to run Atomic Heart as an administrator:

  1. Right-click on the Atomic Heart shortcut icon on the home screen and select Properties.
  2. Go to the Compatibility tab.
  3. Check the Run this program as an administrator box.
  4. Click Apply and then tap on OK.
  5. Close the Window.

Now, launch the game, and do let us know if this method does the trick.

8. Disable Antivirus

Often antivirus blocks some of the game’s files and that leads to many issues. Probably, the Windows Firewall or other antivirus apps on your computers have blocked the game files.

To check if an antivirus is causing the problem, temporarily disable all antivirus software and launch the game.

Steps to disable Windows Firewall on your PC:

  1. Type Control Panel in the search box and hit Enter.
  2. Double tap on Windows Defender Firewall. If it doesn’t appear, set View by to Small icons.
  3. Tap on Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off.
  4. Turn off the firewall for Private network settings and Public network settings.
  5. Click OK at the bottom.

Steps to disable Windows Security:

  1. Type Windows Security in the search box and hit Enter.
  2. Tap on Virus and threat protection.
  3. Click Manage Settings under Virus & threat protection settings.
  4. Turn off Real-time protection and Cloud-delivered protection.

Now, tap on Protection History from the left side menu and check if Windows Security has blocked any files of Atomic Heart. If yes, unblock the files.

9. Update the Device

Make sure your device has no pending updates. Windows regularly release new software updates which include stability improvements and bug fixing.

Here’s how to update your PC:

  1. Right-click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Settings.
  2. Tap on Windows Update from the left-side menu.
  3. Click Check for updates.
  4. Download and install pending updates.

Once you’ve installed all pending updates, restart the device and launch the game to see if the problem is sorted.

10. Reinstall the Game
