Apple has built iMessage for iPhones and other Apple products for messaging. It works seamlessly across Apple products. But, it may run into problems when receiving messages from an Android phone. Several iPhone 14 owners have reported that they are not receiving texts from Android.
If you are also facing messaging issues with your iPhone 14, 14 Plus, or 14 Max, keep reading this guide to know the effective ways to fix this issue.
Fix: iPhone 14 Not Receiving Texts From Android
Below we’ve jotted down the ways to fix the iPhone 14 not receiving texts from Android issue. You may not need to try them all. Simply work your way down until you find the one that works for you.
1. Restart Your iPhone
You may not be receiving texts from Android on your Apple iPhone because of a minor software bug or system glitch. Restarting the device can fix minor system glitches, which could then fix the issue of receiving texts on the iPhone.
To restart your iPhone 14, press and hold the power button and volume up or down button until “Slide to Power Off” appears. Drag the slider to the right to turn off your iPhone. Now, press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears. Release the button and the device should boot within a few seconds.
Ask your Android friend to send a message to check if the issue is fixed.
2. Make Sure the Number Is Not Blocked
It is possible that the number is blocked on your iPhone. Then, you won’t receive calls and messages from that blocked number. Double-check your blocked list and make sure that the phone number is not there.
To check blocked numbers on your iPhone, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on Phone.
- Click Blocked contacts.
- To unblock a number, swipe the number to the left and click Unblock.
If the number was blocked earlier, after unblocking it you should not have problems with receiving calls and texts from that particular number.
If the number is not blocked, and still you can’t receive text messages, move on to the next solution.
3. Check if MMS and Group Messaging Are Disabled
If the message contains a sticker or photo, or if it’s a group message, you won’t receive it on your iPhone if MMS and Group Messaging options are disabled.
By default, these two options are enabled on iPhones, but you would want to check if any of them are disabled on your iPhone 14.
Open the Settings app and go to Messaging. Turn on MMS Messaging and Group Messaging if they are disabled.
4. Leave Room for New Messages
Although the storage on iPhone 14 is sufficient to store thousands of messages if you have too many on your iPhone, delete old messages to make room for upcoming messages.
To delete multiple messages, open the Messages app and click the Edit button in the top-left corner. Select messages and click Delete in the bottom-right corner to delete them.
5. Reset Network Settings
If you still can’t receive texts on your iPhone 14 from an Android device, resetting the network settings might help. Doing this will delete all saved Wi-Fi networks and paired Bluetooth devices. If you are okay with that, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down to General and tap on it.
- Tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Click Reset.
- Click Reset Network Settings on the pop-up screen and confirm it.
6. Update Your iPhone
If none of the above solutions have worked, it’s time to check for new iOS updates. A software bug could be causing issues with receiving texts from Android on your iPhone 14. Updating the device could fix the issue.
To check for iOS updates, open the Settings app and go to General -> Software Updates. If an update is available, download and install it.
7. Contact Your Carrier
If the above solutions weren’t helpful to you, contact your carrier to check if there’s an issue with the cellular network or SMS service. They might tell you the exact reason why you’re not receiving texts on your iPhone.
