Motorola is keeping the momentum going for its budget lineup, delivering the latest Android 16 update to another popular model. After sending the update to the Moto G86 Power last month, the company is now bringing the same software treatment to the regular Moto G86.
This stable rollout is currently in its early stages, focusing primarily on users in European markets. As is standard for Motorola, the deployment is gradual, so a wider global expansion is expected to follow in the coming weeks. The update is officially confirmed on Motorola’s support pages.
The update arrives with firmware version W1VN36H.60-30 and is a substantial download of about 1.33GB. This package also includes the October 2025 security patch, providing the latest protections right out of the gate. Since this is a phased rollout, not every Moto G86 owner will see the notification immediately.
For those eager to check, the path is straightforward. Head into your phone’s Settings, select System updates, and tap Check for updates. It’s a good idea to be connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and have your battery charged above 50% before initiating the download.

What’s new in Android 16 for Moto G86
This marks the first major OS upgrade for the Moto G86 since its launch with Android 15, and it introduces several handy quality-of-life features. A key change consolidates your different focus modes. You can now find and manage options like Do Not Disturb, Bedtime, and Driving all in one centralized spot within Settings.
Creating custom modes for specific situations is also easier, and you can toggle them directly from the quick settings panel. Another convenient addition simplifies connecting to your own Wi-Fi hotspot. If the device you’re connecting uses the same Google account as your phone, it can now link up without requiring a password.
Android 16 also brings meaningful improvements for accessibility, offering better support for low-energy audio hearing aids. Users gain more control during calls, with the ability to choose between the hearing aid’s microphone or the phone’s microphone for clearer audio.
Beyond the headline features, the update packs in the usual under-the-hood enhancements. You can expect improved system stability, performance optimizations for smoother daily use, and crucial bug fixes that enhance overall reliability.
