Apple held the iPhone 12 Event on October 13 to unveil the iPhone 12 series and a HomePod Mini. All the four devices in the iPhone 12 lineup feature 5G connectivity. So, here are the highlights of the event, that starts with HomePod Mini.
Apple HomePod Mini
HomePod Mini was the first device unveiled at the iPhone 12 Event. Two years back, Apple launched the HomePod smart speaker and now, it has come up with a mini version called “HomePod Mini” priced at just $99 (Rs 9,999 in India).
The speaker measures 3.3-inch tall and feature built-in Siri. It delivers 360 degree sound and has two high excursion passive radiators for extra bass. The HomePod Mini is powered by the Apple S5 chip which can automatically adjust the loudness and dynamic range in real-time, technically known as Computation Audio. The HomePod Mini will be available for pre-order in White and Space Gray on November 6, and the shipping starts from October 16.
Apple iPhone 12
The iPhone 12 features a 6.1-inch Super XDR OLED with a higher 2532×1170 pixel resolution and a peak brightness of 1200nits. Not surprisingly, the notch and a 60Hz refresh rate are still present. Apple has now improved the glass covering of display with Ceramic Sheild. For the Ceramic Sheild glass, Apple claims that it has 4 times better drop performance and is tougher than any smartphone glass.
The iPhone 12 features a new 12MP wide camera with a brighter F1.6 aperture, and the second camera is a 12MP ultrawide. Both, rear cameras and the selfie camera are now capable of shooting Night Mode images. Apple’s most powerful A14 Bionic chip powers the device that can perform 11 trillion operations per second. It supports a new MagSafe charging technology, that allows wireless charging with up to 15W speed. The Apple iPhone price is set to $799 and will be up for pre-orders on October 16.
Apple iPhone 12 Mini
Apple also introduced a lightweight iPhone 12 Mini that becomes the World’s smallest 5G phone with a screen size of 5.4-inch. The OLED panel in the device features 476ppi pixel density and up to 1200nits of brightness.
Other specifications including camera, chipset, wireless charging, color options are exactly the same as in iPhone 12. It will be offered in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage variants. The base variant of iPhone 12 Mini starts from $699 (Rs 69,900) and will ship from November 13.
Apple iPhone 12 Pro
Here comes the premium smartphone in the iPhone 12 series lineup. Apart from the 5G, it packs a 6.1-inch OLED display with 1,170 x 2,532 pixels resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1200nits. Like the iPhone 12, it also features A14 Bionic and a Ceramic Sheild glass for better protection.
In optics, the iPhone 12 Pro packs a triple camera setup on the rear side which offers 87% better low-light images, 5x optics zoom, and a new sensor-shift optical image stabilization (OIS). iPhone 12 Pro is equipped with a LiDAR sensor on the back, that allows Night mode portraits, and better depth detection. It also supports MagSafe charging technology and supports 20W wired charging, that you’ll need to buy separately. The iPhone 12 Pro price starts from $1,000 (Rs 1,19,900) for the 128GB base storage. Sales will kick off from November 13.
Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max
The Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max inherits all the specifications from iPhone 12 Pro except the display and telephoto lens. So, the Pro Max display measures 6.7-inch, a bit larger than the iPhone 12 Pro. The second difference is the presence of a telephoto camera with a 65mm focal length than the 52mm on the iPhone 12 Pro. The Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max starts with a price tag of $1,100 (Rs 1,29,900) for the base variant with 128GB storage. Sales will start from November 13.
