MediaTek Dimensity 820 SoC announced with higher CPU clock speed, Dual sim 5G support
MediaTek announced Dimensity 820 chipset which is more powerful than predecessor Dimensity 800 SoC. Comparing with the Dimensity 800, the new chipset has higher CPU and GPU performance, better 5G performance.
Still the same 7nm chip with four Cortex-A55 with 2.0GHz CPU clock speed as in Dimensity 800. Now, here is a difference between the other four cores, the new chipset has Cortex-A76 with 2.6GHz clock speed while the Dimensity 800 chipset brings Cortex-A76 at 2.0GHz clock speed. The Mali G57 GPU now supports up to 5 core and supports up to 16GB LPDDR4x RAM and UFS storage. The 5G modem has been upgraded to support dual sim 5G connectivity and uses dynamic bandwidth part, connect mode discontinuous reception technology for power saving.

MediaTek Dimensity 820 chipset also includes MiraVision for to enhance HDR10+ video playback. The new chipset also brings MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Gaming Technology to boost game performance. It also has MediaTek APU 3.0 technology which claims to provide AI-super resolution, higher camera capabilities and maximum battery effeciency.
