We are about to enter February, and Samsung is not done yet with the January security patch. The company has even started rolling out the February security update, which debuted on Galaxy Note 20 series, while it continues to send the January update to the devices, which have not received it yet. The South Korean giant has now started to roll out the January 2022 security update to Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A80.
Samsung Galaxy A71 receives the January 2022 security update with the firmware version A715FXXS8BVA4. It brings dozens of fixes to system security and privacy vulnerabilities. The update might also include general bug fixing and device stability improvements. For now, it is rolling out in Brazil and should expand to more regions in the coming days.
Samsung Galaxy A80 has also started picking up the January 2022 security update, improving its security and privacy. The update is currently rolling out in France, carrying the firmware version A805FXXS6DVA1. It should expand to more regions over the next few days.
Galaxy A80 was launched in 2019 with Android 9 (Pie) out of the box. It has already spent its quota of two major OS upgrades as the device is running on Android 11. The Galaxy A80 is not eligible for the Android 12 update. However, the Galaxy A71 is eligible to receive the Android 12 upgrade. The device will start receiving the next major OS upgrade sometime around April.
