WhatsApp extends new privacy policy deadline amid mass confusion among users

WhatsApp has extended the deadline for its users to accept the new privacy policy or stop using the service. The company through a blog post on Friday announced that it will delay its privacy policy acceptance deadline till May 8 to let users understand and review the new policy.

There is a lot much confusion among WhatsApp users about WhatsApp’s new privacy policy. The new blog post also mentions, “We’ve heard from so many people how much confusion there is around our recent update. There’s been a lot of misinformation causing concern and we want to help everyone understand our principles and the facts”.

To clear more about its changes in its new policy, WhatsApp tweeted an image, which you can see below.

As a result of this new WhatsApp policy, other messaging services like Telegram and Signal shows a huge spike in the number of new users joining the service. WhatsApp on its latest blog post mentions that, “We’re also going to do a lot more to clear up the misinformation around how privacy and security works on WhatsApp. We’ll then go to people gradually to review the policy at their own pace before new business options are available on May 15”.
