Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 with Smart Pen set to launch alongside Mi MIX 4 on August 10

Xiaomi has officially announced the launch date for Mi Pad 5 on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. The device will launch on August 10 in China. Interestingly, Mi MIX 4 is also debuting on the same day. The poster confirms that Mi Pad 5 supports stylus which is reportedly called the ‘Xiaomi Smart Pen’.

The Smart Pen was recently spotted on FCC certification with the model number M2107K81PC. It didn’t reveal much details apart from confirming Bluetooth v5 LE (Low Energy) support for connectivity. The Mi Pad 5 poster shows a small part of the device which confirms metal build with round edges.

Ahead of the launch, a leaked image surfaced on Weibo that reveals the rear camera module. It shows a dual rear camera setup with LED flash on the right. The whole camera setup is placed on the upper-left side and the camera bump is also not that big. A large size button on the left side is a volume rocker.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 series is said to include three devices – Mi Pad 5 Lite, vanilla Mi Pad 5, and Mi Pad 5 Pro. The ‘Lite’ model is believed to have Snapdragon 860 SoC, 2K resolution display with 120Hz refresh rate, and a 12MP primary camera. The vanilla and Pro model are said to have slightly upgraded Snapdragon 870 SoC and 48MP primary camera.

The Mi Pad 5 series tablets reportedly have the model numbers 21051182C, M2105K81AC, and M2105K81C. These models recently passed through Chinese 3C certification. It revealed that 21051182C supports 33W fast charging which could be the Lite model. The other two models support 66W fast charging. Notably, the M2105K81C is the only model with 5G support. So, it could be the top-end model in the Mi Pad 5 series.
