South-Korean giant Samsung is currently the king of foldable smartphones in the market. The company has launched multiple foldable smartphones like Galaxy Z Fold, Galaxy Z Flip, and more. Now, Xiaomi patents a foldable phone that looks much similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Have a look at the patent images.
As per the images, it will be an inward folding phone having a cover screen identical to Galaxy Fold. The cover screen measures about 4.6-inches and does not feature a camera on the cover display.
Samsung Galaxy Fold has a wide notch at the top for camera sensors on the main display whereas Xiaomi is opting a unique strategy to completely remove the notch. The company has added a vertical strip on the right side of the phone which consists of 3 camera sensors. A large circle below the cameras appears to be a fingerprint scanner.
Around the back, we see a vertical camera setup which is likely to include 2 camera sensors and an LED flash. The cover display appears to be placed a little deeper than Galaxy Fold that making it more protected by the frame. The patent was filed by Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co. Ltd with CNIPA earlier this year and has been approved today. That’s all for now, but we are sure to receive more intel soon.
