One UI 8.5 Beta 3 is here for Galaxy S25 series; brings improvements and January 2026 security patch

Right on schedule, Samsung is serving up the third beta build of One UI 8.5 for Galaxy S25 beta testers. The Beta 3 update is now rolling out, and it looks like Samsung is focusing on refinement, squashing several pesky bugs and bundling in the latest security patch for good measure.

If you’re already enrolled in the program on your S25, S25+, or S25 Ultra, a new notification should be waiting for you. The latest beta update, identified as firmware version ZZA3, follows the predictable two-week cadence we’ve seen so far. Be ready for a substantial download, as the package weighs in at over 1.26GB for the Ultra variant and includes the January 2026 security patch.

This build zeroes in on quality-of-life issues that Beta testers have been flagging. The official changelog shows Samsung tackling some specific headaches. Here’s the complete changelog:

  • Fixed the clock display error on the lock screen.
  • Resolved the issue related to favorites in the phone app.
  • Fixed the issue where Now Briefing does not display.
  • Improved the screen lagging issue when using Live Effect in the gallery.
  • Improved the issue of high power consumption when a specific app is running.
  • Enhanced the visibility of the search button on the widget addition screen.

For those following the beta’s progress, this release signals a shift into the final stretch of polishing. The focus is clearly on stability, suggesting the core feature set is locked in.

As expected, the beta program remains confined to the Galaxy S25 series core trio. Models like the S25 FE and S25 Edge are still on the sidelines, meaning their users will need to wait for the stable rollout, which is expected to go live in March.

To grab the update, enrolled users in the US, UK, India, Germany, Poland, and South Korea can head to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

With Beta 3 smoothing out the experience, the wait for the final stable release feels shorter than ever. Have you installed it yet? Drop a comment and let us know if you notice the improvements!
