One UI 8.5 Beta 3 reportedly hits near-stable smoothness, rollout could begin next week

Samsung appears to be preparing the next phase of its One UI 8.5 beta program, with a new testing build spotted for the Galaxy S25 series. According to reports, the third beta may be nearing release and could represent a significant step towards the final software version.

Tipster Tarun Vats spotted a new One UI 8.5 build on Samsung’s servers with firmware version S938BXXU7ZZA1 for the Galaxy S25 series. Vats suggests that Beta 3 could be released as early as Monday, January 5.

Perhaps more significant than the release timing are early impressions of the build’s quality. Renowned leaker Ice Universe claims that the smoothness of One UI 8.5 Beta 3 has reached a level comparable to a stable release, specifically noting it’s as fluid as the stable version of One UI 8.0. According to the report, the build shows “no obvious bugs,” indicating substantial progress since the earlier beta versions.

While this near-stable performance is an encouraging sign for beta testers, it doesn’t necessarily mean Beta 3 will be the final beta build. With the stable One UI 8.5 release still estimated to be at least two months away—scheduled to debut with the Galaxy S26 series—Samsung will likely release several more beta versions to further polish the software.

The current One UI 8.5 beta program is available for the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra in several regions including the US, UK, Germany, South Korea, India, and Poland. Enrolled users can check for the Beta 3 update once it’s released by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

This development suggests that Samsung is on track with its One UI 8.5 development timeline, and Galaxy S25 users may not have to wait long for the stable update once it begins rolling out early next year.
