Samsung has officially expanded its One UI 8.5 beta program to the United States, giving Galaxy S25 users their first chance to try the next major software upgrade ahead of its stable release. The rollout follows the beta’s initial debut in South Korea and Germany earlier today, and the US is now the third region to get access.
The beta update comes with firmware version S93xU1UEU7ZYL8 and has a download size of roughly 3.9GB. The update also includes the December 2025 security patch to further enhance the device security.

Samsung is limiting the US beta program to unlocked units of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. And just like other markets, the Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S25 Edge are not eligible for the One UI 8.5 beta in the US. Samsung traditionally restricts beta access to the main flagship trio, and it appears the company is continuing the same strategy this year.
How to register for the One UI 8.5 beta program?
Signing up is simple — Samsung uses the same process as previous beta programs:
- Open the Samsung Members app on your Galaxy device.
- Look for the One UI 8.5 Beta Program banner and tap on it.
- Follow on-screen instructions to join the beta program.
- Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install to download the latest update.
- Tap Install now.
The update should apply within minutes, though the first boot may take slightly longer than usual due to system optimization. Also, the battery consumption may be a little higher due to background optimizations. It should get back to normal within a few days.
Samsung’s first One UI 8.5 beta build introduces a wide range of improvements — new Galaxy AI tools, enhanced lock screen customization, a redesigned Quick Share experience, expanded DeX functionality, tighter security features, battery optimization upgrades, and updates to system apps like Weather, My Files, and Samsung Health.

With the US now added to the beta lineup, Samsung is expected to bring One UI 8.5 testing to India and Poland in the next phase, consistent with earlier beta cycles. The stable version of One UI 8.5 is anticipated to debut early next year alongside the Galaxy S26 series, followed by a wider rollout to older eligible devices.
