The stable One UI 8 update is now rolling out to two of its most popular mid-range smartphones — the Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G. The company had promised to release the update for these devices in October, and true to its word, it has now started rolling out the new software in Korea.
Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33 get One UI 8 update
The stable One UI 8 update is now live for both devices, with firmware version GYI2 for the Galaxy A53 5G and GYI3 for the Galaxy A33 5G. While the rollout is currently limited to South Korea, Samsung typically expands major software releases within days, so users in other regions should expect the update soon.

If you own either of these phones, you can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Make sure your phone has enough battery and storage space before starting the installation.
Based on Android 16, One UI 8 brings a polished interface and several refinements to system animations, widgets, and stock apps. Samsung has refreshed elements across the Quick Panel, My Files, Samsung Internet, and Weather apps, while introducing improved features for Reminders, Calendar, and Modes & Routines. The overall experience feels smoother and more cohesive, making everyday interactions more intuitive.
One UI 8.5 already in development
Even as the One UI 8 rollout continues globally, Samsung is already working on One UI 8.5, which promises additional UI upgrades and smarter visual refinements. Both the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33 are confirmed to be eligible for the upcoming One UI 8.5 update. It’s expected to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year, with a wider release to follow soon after.
