Samsung’s update streak continues, and this time, it’s the mid-range segment stealing the spotlight. The company has started rolling out the One UI 8 (Android 16) update for the Galaxy M36 and Galaxy F36 in India, giving budget phone users a pleasant surprise.

Samsung brings Android 16 early to budget phones
While the Galaxy M36 already received the update earlier in Korea, it’s now expanding to Indian users alongside the Galaxy F36. Both devices are part of Samsung’s best-selling mid-range lineup, and the early rollout shows the brand’s growing commitment to timely software support — something that used to be a flagship-only privilege not too long ago.
The Galaxy F36 update weighs in at around 2.3GB and carries the firmware version E366BXXU2BYI4, while the Galaxy M36 update is slightly larger at 2.35GB, identified by firmware version M366BXXUZBYI3. If you haven’t received a notification yet, you can check manually by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

What’s new with One UI 8 for Galaxy M36 and F36?
The One UI 8 update brings several performance and design refinements that make these mid-rangers feel noticeably smoother. Expect better battery optimization, improved animations, enhanced privacy controls, and revamped Samsung apps like Calendar, My Files, and Weather with a cleaner interface.
While this isn’t a complete overhaul, the overall experience feels faster, more modern, and much more polished — a solid improvement for phones in this price range.
Even though the Galaxy M36 and F36 aren’t premium devices, Samsung clearly isn’t leaving them behind. Both phones are eligible for One UI 8.5, which is currently in development and expected to debut in February 2026 alongside the Galaxy S26 series. That update will build on Android 16 and bring even more features and UI tweaks.
