One UI 8 will be the last major upgrade for these Samsung devices

Samsung’s latest One UI 8 software debuted with Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 earlier this month, and it’s set to roll out to a wide range of Galaxy devices soon. But for some users, this will be the final big software upgrade their device ever sees.

That’s because One UI 8, which is based on Android 16, will be the last major OS update for a number of Galaxy phones and tablets. This means, there won’t be Android 17 or One UI 9 for these devices.

These Galaxy devices won’t receive major updates beyond One UI 8

Here’s the full list of Samsung phones and tablets that will receive One UI 8 as their final major upgrade:

  • Galaxy S22
  • Galaxy S22+
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra
  • Galaxy S21 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy A73 5G
  • Galaxy A53
  • Galaxy A33
  • Galaxy M05
  • Galaxy F14
  • Galaxy F05
  • Galaxy XCover 6 Pro
  • Galaxy Tab S8
  • Galaxy Tab S8+
  • Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra
  • Galaxy Tab A9
  • Galaxy Tab A9+

These devices won’t be left completely in the dark — they’ll likely get One UI 8.5 sometime in 2026, and Samsung will continue sending out security patches for a while, depending on each model’s support cycle.

Time to consider an upgrade?

If your device is on this list, you may want to start thinking about an upgrade next year. While One UI 8 brings new features and improvements, it also marks the end of the line for major Android version bumps on these models.

To stay current with the latest Android features, new One UI experiences, and long-term support, your best bet will be moving to a newer Galaxy device that’s guaranteed several more years of updates.
