The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are the flagship phones of their time. Both phones have a good set of hardware, and the software support for Samsung has been impressive. Samsung released the Galaxy S9 back in 2018, and with good durability, the phone is still in many people’s hands. If you have one, you may be thinking about updating the Galaxy S9 to Android 13. Device Overview

The Galaxy S9 features a 5.9-inch Super AMOLED display, whereas the Plus model has a slightly bigger 6.2-inch screen. Samsung released the devices in different chipsets – one with Exynos 9810 SoC and the other one with Snapdragon 845. The vanilla model has a single 12MP sensor on the back, and the Plus model features two 12MP sensors that take better shots.

On the front, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ boast a dual camera setup. One is an 8MP sensor and linked to it is a 2MP sensor for the iris scanner. The phones come in multiple storage options. The Galaxy S9 is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and the Plus model has a slightly bigger 3,500mAh battery.

Will Samsung Galaxy S9 Get Android 13 Update?

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ were released in 2018 with Android 8 (Oreo) out of the box. The very next year, both phones got upgraded to Android 9 (Pie). In 2020, Samsung pushed the Android 10 update to the Galaxy S9 and S9, and in 2021, they received Android 11. It’s hard to say that the Android 11 was the last major OS update for the Galaxy S9 series. Though the devices continued to receive security updates even after Samsung pulled software support in April 2022.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ have not even received Android 12. And, it’s clear that the phones will not receive Android 13 either. The last software update for the Galaxy S9 was released in early 2022 which brought the March 2022 security patch. Since then, no new updates have been released for these phones.
