Oppo A53 is the company’s latest smartphone to pick up the stable ColorOS 12 update based on Android 12. The latest software update brings lots of cool features, new customizations, security improvements, and more. We’ll talk about new features in a minute. The OTA update comes with F.07 build version.

Oppo A53 was released back in 2020 with Android 10 out of the box. The device has already received its first major OS upgrade in the form of Android 11, and now getting treated with Android 12. Probably, this is the last major Android update for the Oppo A53. Although, it will continue to receive security updates for a while.

In order to get the stable ColorOS 12 update on your Oppo A53, the device should be running on C.26 build version. You can head over to Settings >> Software update to download the latest available update. Note that the Android 12 update is rolling out in a staged fashion. So, it may take a few days to reach all users.

The Flexdrop feature in ColorOS 12 has been renamed to Flexible Windows. Oppo has introduced Smart Sidebar 2.0 which allows users to quickly open their favorite apps in no time. ColorOS 12 brings a new AI System Booster which is claimed to reduce the memory footprint by 30% and power consumption by 20%. This will result in better performance and improved battery life.

Security and privacy improvements are always in Google’s mind when creating a new version of Android. But this time, there’s a major change in privacy. In Android 12 running phones, you’ll see an icon for the microphone, camera, or location whenever any of these are being accessed. In the past, users have reported that many apps are accessing the microphone or camera in the background. With Android 12, this problem gets eliminated as you’ll see an icon at the top of the screen whenever an app accesses the camera, microphone, or location.
