Samsung is progressing with the development of One UI 8.5, with internal testing now extending to several budget-friendly Galaxy A-series models. Recent activities on Samsung’s servers indicate that the Galaxy A16 5G, Galaxy A17 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G have joined the growing list of devices undergoing testing for the upcoming major software update.
The Galaxy A16 5G has been spotted on Samsung’s servers in Europe and Turkey with the firmware version A166BXXU5DYLD, while the Galaxy A17 5G has appeared on test servers in India, Europe, and Turkey with the version A176BXXU3CYL5. The Galaxy A26 5G is undergoing testing in Europe with firmware version A266BXXU6CYL2.

Samsung is testing One UI 8.5 internally on several Galaxy A-series phones already, including the Galaxy A56, Galaxy A55, and Galaxy A36. The expansion to more affordable devices shows Samsung’s efforts in pushing the update early to mid-range phones as well, not just flagships.
These internal builds are not accessible to the public and are used by Samsung to ensure stability before a wider release. The current public beta program for One UI 8.5 remains exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series, while the stable release will debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year.
