Samsung’s already-impressive software update policy is getting even better. The company appears to have quietly expanded its seven-year update commitment to more devices—this time reaching beyond its premium Galaxy S, Z, and Tab S lineup and into the mid-range segment.
The Galaxy S24 series was the first to introduce Samsung’s new long-term update promise, guaranteeing seven years of software updates. Later, the brand extended similar treatment to other high-end models across its flagship portfolio.
Now, Samsung seems to be offering the same level of long-term support to mid-range phones and tablets. As spotted by Sammyfans, the software support section for the Galaxy A56 reveals that it will receive seven years of security updates.
The recently-launched Galaxy Tab A11 and Tab A11+ also promise seven years of security updates. Samsung might offer the same software support to more upcoming mid-range phones and tablets.

Six years of software support was already class-leading in the Android world, but Samsung’s decision to stretch security support to seven years makes things even more compelling for long-term users. Mid-range devices rarely get this level of software longevity, and this move puts Samsung far ahead of most competitors.
Samsung hasn’t officially commented on the quiet extension, so it’s possible these support timelines were simply overlooked until now. Regardless, users stand to benefit — provided this isn’t a temporary listing or a technical oversight. Given how competitive the Android ecosystem has become, Samsung extending support further wouldn’t be surprising.
