Samsung Galaxy M31, M31s, M31 Prime One UI 4.0 (Android 12) update

Samsung announced the Galaxy M31, Galaxy M31s, and Galaxy M31 Prime back in 2020 with Android 10 out of the box. The South Korean firm has not yet announced the Android 12 roadmap for these devices. But, according to Samsung’s software update policy, the Galaxy M31, Galaxy M31s, and Galaxy M31 Prime are eligible for Android 12 update, which brings the One UI 4.0 skin. In this update tracker article, we’ll continue to post the latest software update information about the Galaxy M31 series.

The Galaxy M31 and M31 Prime both share a similar set of specifications. It means that the phones have a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with FullHD+ resolution and a 32MP selfie camera inside the teardrop notch. The phones are powered by the Exynos 9611 chipset and pack a 6,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support. Around the back, there’s a quad-camera setup, consisting of a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth shooter.

Samsung Galaxy M31s differs from the other two in terms of display, cameras, and charging speed. It has a slightly bigger 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel, and the charging speed jumps to 25W. The device features a quad camera setup, whereas the resolution of the ultrawide camera has been increased to 12MP, and the rest all the sensors remain unchanged.

[Update: May 9, 2022]: The Android 12 update for Samsung Galaxy M31s is now live in India. It comes with the One UI 4.1 skin at the top. The update also brings the March 2022 security patch. Users can identify the update by the build version M317FXXU3DVD4. As it is a major upgrade, you’ll have to spend a big chunk of data. It weighs 1.97GB.

[Update: April 28, 2022]: Samsung has officially released the Android 12-based One UI 4.1 update for Galaxy M31s. The update also includes the March 2022 security patch that fixes over 50 vulnerabilities to enhance the system security and privacy. For now, it is rolling out in Russia with the firmware version M317FXXU3DVD4.

[Update: April 14, 2022]: The Android 12 update is now rolling out for the Galaxy M31 Prime. As of now, it is rolling out in India. The update also brings goodies from One UI 4.1 skin.

[Update: April 13, 2022]: Samsung Galaxy M31 users in India are now receiving the One UI 4.1 update in India. It is based on Android 12 and comes with the firmware version M315FXXU2CVCE. The update brings improved Color Palette, new RAM Plus expansion feature that allows you to choose the amount of virtual RAM to add, camera enhancements, and more.

[Update: March 16, 2022]: Samsung has now released the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update for the Galaxy M31. According to a report from RMUpdate, the latest update for Galaxy M31 also brings the March 2022 security patch.

[Update: January 27, 2022]: Samsung has reportedly started testing the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 build on the Galaxy M31. The test was conducted on the Indian variant of Samsung Galaxy M31 with firmware version M315FXXS2BUK2

[Update: February 1, 2022]: Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy M31 users in India. It brings the January 2022 security patch, which comes with the firmware version G781BXXS4DVA2/ G781BODM4DUL7/ G781BXXU4DUL7. It will expand to more regions in the coming days.

[Update: February 17, 2022]: Galaxy M31 has started picking up the February 2022 security patch with the latest update. The latest build is currently rolling out in Bolivia with the firmware version M315FXXS2BVB1.
