Samsung is testing One UI 8.5 internally on multiple Galaxy devices

While the public One UI 8.5 beta program is currently limited to the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung’s internal development efforts are much broader. Recent activity on the company’s servers has revealed internal test builds of One UI 8.5 for a wide range of other Galaxy devices, indicating extensive preparation for a future stable release.

Multiple Galaxy smartphones across the high-end S and Z series, as well as the affordable A-series have been spotted with their first One UI 8.5 internal build on the server. Here’s a list of those devices along with their corrosponding firmware versions:

  • Galaxy S24/S24+/S24 Ultra: DYL5
  • Galaxy S24 FE: DYLB
  • Galaxy S23/S23+/S23 Ultra: FYLB
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6/Flip 6: DYLB
  • Galaxy A56: CYL8
  • Galaxy A36: CYL3
  • Galaxy A17: CYL3

So, Samsung is not only focusing on premium smartphones like the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Z Flip 6, but mid-range models such as the Galaxy A56, A36, and A17 have also entered the development.

It is important to note that these internal builds are for Samsung’s own testing purposes and are not accessible to the public. Their appearance on servers means the company is actively validating the software on these devices. However, this does not guarantee that a public beta program will be launched for each model. Many devices may proceed directly to the stable version.

This parallel internal testing for multiple devices is a strategic move. It allows Samsung to identify and resolve platform-specific issues early, which can significantly shorten the wait time for the stable update after it makes its debut with the Galaxy S26 series early next year. Eligible devices undergoing internal testing may not need to wait long after the initial stable release to receive their own update.
