Samsung is suddenly hitting the brakes on its previously rapid One UI 8 (Android 16) expansion. After an impressive streak of updates reaching dozens of Galaxy devices, the company has now paused the rollout for multiple flagship smartphones — including the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series.
Just last week, Samsung temporarily halted the One UI 8 rollout for the Galaxy S22 series in India and Europe. Thankfully, that pause didn’t last long — the rollout resumed a day later with the same firmware build, indicating there were likely no major bugs. The interruption appeared to be a routine internal check or server-side adjustment rather than a critical software issue.
Shortly after, Samsung quietly removed the One UI 8 build for the Galaxy S24 series from its update servers in South Korea, suggesting a similar temporary suspension. And now, the latest development sees the Galaxy S23 series joining that list.
Galaxy S23 rollout paused in India and Europe
Today, Samsung pulled One UI 8 builds for the Galaxy S23 lineup (India and Europe variants) from its servers. The move means that users in these regions can no longer download the latest firmware via the Settings app. Those who had already received the OTA notification but hadn’t yet tapped “Download and install” will find the package unavailable for now.
Samsung hasn’t issued an official statement about the reason behind the pause or shared a timeline for when the rollout will resume. Interestingly, Galaxy S23 and S24 users haven’t reported any major issues after installing the update, which suggests this pause is likely precautionary rather than a response to critical flaws.
Pauses like these are not unusual for Samsung. The company often halts deployments to fine-tune update servers, verify regional compatibility, or address minor inconsistencies before expanding the rollout globally. Given that no widespread issues have been reported, it’s safe to assume the update will resume shortly once internal checks are complete.
For now, users who have already installed the update should continue using their devices normally, while others are advised to keep an eye on the Software update section for the resumed rollout in the coming days.
If Samsung maintains its usual pace, the One UI 8 rollout will likely pick up again soon — continuing the company’s record-setting update streak this year.
