Samsung is continuing its January 2026 security patch rollout for wearables, with the update now reaching the Galaxy Watch 6. Following updates for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 series, the latest patch has begun its deployment for the newer model, starting with the LTE variant in South Korea.
The update is rolling out in South Korea with the firmware version R935NKOS1CZA1 for the cellular model (SM-R935N) and has a download size of 157.25MB. The official changelog states the update focuses on system security improvements, bolstering the watch’s defenses against the latest threats.

While the primary goal is security, these patches often include under-the-hood optimizations that enhance stability and performance. For instance, a recent update for the Galaxy Watch 5 addressed lag in Quick Settings and Tiles. Similarly, this update for the Galaxy Watch 6 is likely to resolve minor bugs and contribute to a smoother, more reliable user experience.
To install the update, ensure your Galaxy Watch 6 is connected to its companion smartphone. Then, open the Galaxy Wearable app, navigate to Watch settings > Watch software update, and tap Download and install. It’s advisable to have your watch sufficiently charged before proceeding.
We expect Samsung to expand the update to the Bluetooth variant of the Galaxy Watch 6 and the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic in other regions, including the United States, in the coming days. This update reinforces the security foundation of the device ahead of more substantial software upgrades, such as the anticipated rollout of Wear OS 5 based on One UI Watch 5 later this year.
