Samsung is quietly expanding the scope of its One UI 8.5 development, with internal test builds now appearing for several additional devices, including a popular fan edition phone and older flagship phones.
Following the earlier discovery of internal builds for models like the Galaxy S23 and S24 series, new firmware versions indicate that testing is also underway for the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy S22 Ultra, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series.
The internal builds have been identified with the following firmware versions:
- Galaxy S23 FE: GYLF
- Galaxy S22 Ultra: HYLF
- Galaxy Tab S9 series: EYL1
This development confirms that Samsung is preparing the Android 16-based update for a wider range of phones and its flagship tablets from 2023.
It is important to note that the public beta program for One UI 8.5 remains exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series for now, and Samsung has not announced any plans to open it to older devices. Therefore, it is unlikely that the Galaxy S23 FE, S22 Ultra, or Tab S9 series will receive a public beta.
However, the presence of these internal builds is a positive sign for a prompt stable release. This internal testing phase allows Samsung to work out device-specific issues ahead of the public rollout. When the stable version of One UI 8.5 is released — expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 series — the wait for these tested devices to receive the update should not be long.
