Samsung’s May 2026 security patch is making its rounds, and the Galaxy A55 is now in line. The mid-ranger has become the second device to receive the update, following closely behind the Galaxy S26 series, which was first in line.
The update is currently rolling out in Europe under firmware version A556BXXSECZDE, according to Galaxy Club. Samsung may have pushed it to other regions as well, so it’s worth checking manually if you haven’t received a notification yet. Head to Settings > Software update > Download and install to see if it’s available for your device.
As we reported earlier, Samsung first delivered the May 2026 patch to the Galaxy S26 series. The patch addresses 36 security vulnerabilities in total, which is a fairly significant number. Samsung announced the details of those fixes last week before beginning the rollout.
Separately, the Galaxy A55 is also in the middle of its One UI 8.5 beta program. Samsung opened it up for the device last month, and two beta builds have been released so far. The program is expected to wrap up soon, with the stable One UI 8.5 update likely arriving in the coming weeks. Higher-end Galaxy phones have already received the stable release, so the A55 shouldn’t be far behind.
For now, though, this security update is what’s available. If you’re on the Galaxy A55, the patch is worth installing once it lands in your region. We’ll keep you updated as the rollout expands.
