Galaxy S26 running One UI 8.5 gets a new update

Samsung Galaxy S26

Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. It’s a small release, but it brings the May 2026 security patch to the company’s latest flagship lineup.

Interestingly, the update kicked off in Europe rather than Korea, which isn’t Samsung’s usual approach. The company typically seeds new updates to its home market first, so this is a slight departure from the norm. That said, wider availability across other regions should follow over the coming days.

Carrying build number S94xBXXS2AZE2, the update weighs in at around 560MB and is purely a security-focused release. There are no new features bundled in, which makes sense given where Samsung’s attention currently lies. The company is deep into developing One UI 9 for the Galaxy S26 series, so routine maintenance updates like this one are to be expected in the meantime.

Speaking of One UI 9, Samsung has already opened a beta program for it, and the Galaxy S26 series is part of it. If you’re in Germany, the UK, the US, Korea, India, or Poland, you can sign up through the Samsung Members app to try it out early. As we’ve covered before, One UI 8.5 wasn’t a massive feature update, and One UI 9 is reportedly following a similar pattern in terms of scope.

To grab the May 2026 security update on your Galaxy S26, S26+, or S26 Ultra, head to Settings > Software update and tap Download and install. If it doesn’t show up right away, give it a day or two before trying again.
