Samsung Galaxy A54 picks up May 2026 security patch

Samsung’s May 2026 security patch rollout is moving faster than usual, and the Galaxy A54 is the latest to benefit. The mid-ranger has started receiving the update in Asian and Middle Eastern markets, including India and Saudi Arabia.

The update carries firmware version A546EXXSJEZE5 and weighs around 286.79MB. It patches 36 security vulnerabilities present in the previous build. To check if it’s available on your device, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If you’re in a region that hasn’t received it yet, Samsung will likely push it out over the next few weeks.

What makes this rollout a little surprising is the order in which Samsung is distributing the May patch. The company kicked things off with the Galaxy S26 series, which is expected given it’s the newest flagship lineup. After that, most people would have anticipated the Galaxy Z and Galaxy S series to be next in line. Instead, Samsung pushed the update to the Galaxy A55 before landing on the Galaxy A54. It’s not unprecedented, but it’s a notable shift from the usual priority order.

Looking ahead, the next significant update for the Galaxy A54 should be One UI 8.5, based on Android 16 QPR2. The update brings a refreshed interface and a range of new features. The Galaxy A54 is on the eligible devices list, though Samsung hasn’t shared a timeline for when the A series will actually start receiving it.

Given that One UI 8.5 is still being finalized and rolled out to the S25 series first, Galaxy A54 owners will likely be waiting a while longer. Samsung has also announced One UI 9.0 based on Android 17, with a beta already live for the Galaxy S26 series, but that’s further down the road for mid-range devices.
