What’s new in HyperOS 3.1?

HyperOS 3.1 isn’t a major version bump, but there’s still quite a bit to look forward to. Perhaps the most practical addition is Super OTA, a new update mechanism that makes installing system updates faster and less disruptive, with noticeably shorter reboot times. That’s been a long-standing annoyance for Android users, so it’s good to see Xiaomi tackling it.

On the visual side, the update brings smoother animations, refreshed system apps including Gallery and Weather, more lock screen customization options, and a more interactive HyperIsland. Cross-platform users will also appreciate native Apple AirPods support, which enables quick pop-up pairing and spatial audio on compatible earbuds.

Under the hood, HyperOS 3.1 improves memory management, speeds up app launches, and reduces frame stuttering. Accessibility options have also been reorganized for easier access, and select modes now support quick gesture controls.
