Galaxy Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra could pack the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra

Samsung’s next high-end tablets might be shaping up into serious gaming machines. A new report suggests that the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra could be powered by MediaTek’s latest flagship chip, the Dimensity 9500, pointing to a strong performance leap for the upcoming Tab S12 lineup.

According to Android Authority, the clue was found inside Samsung’s AI Core app, which contained a reference to MT6993. That’s the internal model number for the Dimensity 9500. The chip wasn’t directly linked to the Tab S12+ or Tab S12 Ultra model numbers in the code, but given that Samsung has been consistently using MediaTek’s top silicon in its premium tablets over the past few years, the connection isn’t hard to make.

What the Dimensity 9500 brings to the table

The Dimensity 9500 is built on TSMC’s 3nm process, which already puts it in elite company. Its CPU is an octa-core setup with a fairly aggressive configuration:

  • 1x C1-Ultra core at 4.21GHz
  • 3x C1-Premium cores at 3.5GHz
  • 4x C1-Pro cores at 2.7GHz

On the graphics side, there’s an Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU, which has delivered some of the strongest gaming performance in the Android tablet space. The chip supports HDR content and high-refresh-rate gaming, which makes it a natural fit for large-screen tablet use. Pair that with high-refresh-rate OLED panels and quad speakers, and you’ve got a setup that could make the Tab S12 series genuinely compelling for mobile gaming.

What else to expect from the Galaxy Tab S12 series

Beyond the chip, the Tab S12+ and Tab S12 Ultra are expected to arrive with a solid set of features. Both tablets are reportedly in line for 12MP front and rear cameras, S Pen support, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, a 5Gbps USB Type-C port, IP68 water resistance, and 45W or faster wired charging.

On the software side, they’re expected to launch with Android 17-based One UI 9 out of the box. Samsung has been actively testing One UI 9 on upcoming devices, and the Tab S12 series would fit right into that rollout window. If you’re curious about which other Galaxy devices might be in line for upcoming One UI updates, there’s plenty to keep track of on that front too.

Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed any details about the Galaxy Tab S12 series yet, so all of this should be treated as speculation for now. We’ll keep you updated as more information surfaces.
