One UI 7 stable rollout is ‘unstable’ right now

Samsung promised a smooth and timely rollout of its Android 15-based One UI 7 update, but the situation is turning out to be far from ideal. After months of beta testing, users were expecting a refined and stable update. Instead, what followed has left many scratching their heads.

The stable One UI 7 rollout began on April 7 in South Korea, initially targeting the Galaxy S24 series. On the same day, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and the Z Fold Special Edition also joined the list. The update quickly expanded to Europe and North America, seemingly following Samsung’s planned global timeline. Just as things started to look promising, Samsung suspended the stable rollout.

Samsung paused the rollout entirely due to a serious bug that affected the Galaxy S24 series in Korea. Users reported being unable to unlock their phones in certain cases. Although the bug was region-specific, Samsung decided to halt the update globally to prevent further issues. Tipster Ice Universe was the first to reveal this problem, and soon after, Samsung confirmed it via an official announcement on the Samsung Members app, apologizing for the inconvenience and stating that the update would resume once checks were completed.

This sudden halt has not only delayed the update for millions of users worldwide but also raised questions about Samsung’s software development and testing process. After all, this was supposed to be a “stable” release following four months of beta testing. If a critical bug like this made it past the final checks, it clearly indicates something went wrong behind the scenes.

To make matters worse, the company had previously assured users that One UI 7 would roll out in April without delays. In fact, Samsung’s newsroom post in Vietnam even listed specific rollout dates for several devices, including the Galaxy S24, S23, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and more. Now, all of those timelines are in limbo.

The overall rollout progress remains shaky. Users in many countries are left waiting, unsure of when the update will finally land on their devices. Some have already expressed their frustration online, questioning how a company of Samsung’s scale could let such an issue slip through the cracks.

The One UI 7 stable rollout may have started with high hopes, but it has quickly turned into an unstable affair. Let’s hope Samsung regains control soon and delivers on its promise of a reliable and timely update experience.
