One UI 8.5 stable update starts rolling out to Galaxy S25 Edge

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge is finally getting its turn. The stable One UI 8.5 update has started rolling out to the slim flagship, with the first OTA going live in South Korea.

What makes this notable is that the S25 Edge never participated in the One UI 8.5 beta program. While the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra went through months of beta testing, the Edge variant sat on the sidelines and is now jumping straight to the stable build. Owners had to wait longer, but at least they’re skipping the beta bugs entirely.

One UI 8.5 is a more significant update than the version number suggests. One UI 8 didn’t bring much visually, and it’s now clear Samsung was holding back the more noticeable changes for this mid-cycle release. The redesign is the headline here, though there’s plenty more packed in underneath.

On the connectivity side, Quick Share now works with Apple devices through AirDrop, which is a genuinely useful addition for anyone who regularly swaps files between Android and iPhone. Good Lock also gets improvements, with modules and plugins offering more customization than before. Samsung has been quietly expanding Good Lock’s capabilities with each update, and One UI 8.5 continues that trend.

The AI feature list is fairly substantial. Call screening, Audio Eraser with third-party app support, Photo Assist with text input, and Creative Studio are all part of the package. System animations have also been refined, and the overall fluidity of the interface is noticeably better.

If you’re on the Galaxy S25 Edge and haven’t seen the update yet, check Settings > Software update. South Korea got it first, but the rollout should expand to other regions shortly. You can also check whether your device is eligible for One UI 8.5.
