Galaxy S24 FE starts getting stable One UI 8.5 update

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 rollout has reached the Galaxy S24 FE. The stable update is currently going out to beta participants in South Korea, with a broader global release expected to follow within days.

The S24 FE joins a growing list of Galaxy devices that have already picked up the update. The Galaxy S24 series got stable One UI 8.5 earlier, and the Galaxy S25 lineup was among the first to receive it. Now the fan edition is catching up. Samsung had launched the One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy S24 series back in March, so the stable release was only a matter of time.

Beyond Korea, Samsung has already confirmed the wider rollout will cover Europe, India, North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. So if you’re in one of those regions, the update shouldn’t be far off.

What’s new in One UI 8.5?

One UI 8.5 is based on Android 16 and brings a noticeably cleaner interface with smoother animations throughout. Samsung has also redesigned several of its core apps and added deeper customization controls. The full list of changes from the beta phase gives a good sense of how much ground the update covers.

On the AI side, One UI 8.5 brings a number of features that first debuted with the Galaxy S26 series, including upgraded writing tools, smarter communication suggestions, enhanced photo editing options, improved Bixby interactions, and refined cross-device sharing. It’s a meaningful upgrade for S24 FE users who have been on One UI 7.

To check if the update is available on your device, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. It’s worth doing this over a stable Wi-Fi connection since the firmware can be quite large, especially if you’re coming from an older One UI 8.0 build. Charging your device to at least 40% before starting is a good idea too.
