Qualcomm is reportedly gearing up to announce its next flagship chip for smartphones, Qualcomm Snapdragon 898. The announcement is likely to happen at the start of the next month. It was Xiaomi who launched the first smartphone with Snapdragon 888 SoC, and again, the same Chinese company will bring the first Snapdragon 898 SoC-powered phone, as per a recent Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station.

It’s not very surprising, but the thing which may excite you is that Motorola will also launch a phone powered by the Snapdragon 898 chip. The device name has not been revealed yet. However, the tipster claims that it will launch at the end of this year.

According to recent reports, Xiaomi 12 will launch by the end of this year. So, it is most likely the first phone to get the upcoming flagship chip from Qualcomm. Other members of the Xiaomi 12 family — Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Ultra — will reportedly arrive early next year.

Snapdragon 898 SoC details leak

Recently, an image of a mysterious phone running a Snapdragon 898 SoC leaked on the internet. It revealed that the new chip is code-named “SM8450”, which will reportedly be called Snapdragon 898 SoC. According to the leaked image, the new Qualcomm chip has a prime core Cortex-X2 running at 3.0 GHz. It has three Cortex-A710 clocked at 2.5 GHz and four power-efficient Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.79 GHz.
