Redmi Note 12 4G, Xiaomi 12X Get HyperOS Update, But Android Version Remains Unchanged

Xiaomi is bringing the HyperOS update to Redmi Note 12 4G and Xiaomi 12X with a big disappointment. Instead of Android 14, the HyperOS build for these two Xiaomi devices is based on Android 13, unfortunately.

In fact, Redmi Note 12 4G and Xiaomi 12X are the first phones from the brand to get the big HyperOS update, but the Android version remains unchanged. So, the users might miss Android 14 features and enhancements, but there are still plenty of features to play with.

Redmi Note 12 4G is getting the latest update with the software version HyperOS OS1.0.2.0.THGMIXM. It’s rolling out to the global variant, and that too for beta users, but it should have broader availability in the coming days and weeks. It’s a 3GB update that also brings the January 2024 security patch.

Xiaomi 12X, on the other hand, is getting the HyperOS 1.0.2.0.TLDCNXM update in China. The update has a download size of around 1.5GB. In addition to HyperOS features and improvements, the device is also getting the January 2024 security patch.

HyperOS is much improved compared to the MIUI skin. One of the big complaints with MIUI is the inability to remove bloatware, which is no longer a problem in HyperOS. Though HyperOS also has bloatware apps, you can easily uninstall them. The OS seamlessly integrates with other Xiaomi products and smart home devices.

The new OS brings smoother animation and transition, seamless switching between connected devices, and enhanced app security. It offers a clean and uncluttered user interface with a new system font and fresh icon designs. The control centre has been redesigned for easier access to frequently used settings.

If you haven’t updated your Redmi Note 12 4G or Xiaomi 12X to HyperOS, go to Settings > About phone > tap on MIUI version and click Check for Updates to get the latest update.
