Three popular Galaxy mid-rangers have officially reached the end of their software support lifecycle. The Galaxy A13, Galaxy A23, and Galaxy M33 5G are no longer in Samsung’s update queue, marking the close of a four-year run for all three devices.
Samsung launched this trio back in April 2022, all running One UI 4.0 on top of Android 12. Since then, the A13 and A23 each picked up two major OS upgrades, with their journeys ending at Android 14 via One UI 6. The M33 5G had a slightly longer ride, receiving four OS upgrades that took it all the way to Android 16-based One UI 8, which is a solid run for a mid-range phone.
There’s one lingering question around the M33 5G, though. Samsung has been testing One UI 8.5 internally for the Korean variant of the phone, known as the Galaxy Jump 2. Some builds have appeared, but Samsung hasn’t confirmed anything, and at this point, it’s unclear whether the update will actually ship or if the company has quietly shelved it. Either way, official support has ended, so even if the Jump 2 gets One UI 8.5, it won’t come with any guarantee of continued patches.
For now, none of these phones will suddenly stop functioning. But the clock is ticking in practical terms. Newer apps will gradually stop supporting older Android versions, and without security patches, you’re leaving your device more exposed over time. The A13 and A23 in particular are already two Android versions behind, which is starting to matter more as app requirements evolve.
If you’re still holding on to one of these devices, it might be a good time to start thinking about an upgrade. Samsung’s current mid-range lineup offers a significantly better deal on longevity. Newer models like the Galaxy A37 and A17 come with up to six years of Android and One UI updates, along with extended security coverage. That’s a meaningful jump compared to what these 2022 phones received, and it makes a strong case for moving on sooner rather than later.
